Where to look
The UK has three main credit reference agencies: Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Several free services let you view your file from one or more of them. Checking your own report is a soft search and does not affect your score.
What to check
- Your details and addresses are correct.
- Accounts you recognise — flag anything you do not.
- Any missed payments or defaults.
- That you are on the electoral roll.
